Charms are crafted items that allow axies to tap into their true potential by adding special powers and skills to the standard card deck. Each charm has its own unique power-up that can be added to individual cards to differentiate one trainer’s deck from another.
Note that no more than 1 charm can be equipped to a single card.
Each charm has a distinctive class type, rarity, and Potential Points usage. They can also be Ronin (NFT), Sealed (non-NFT), Seasonal, or Non-seasonal.
Charm Class
There are currently 9 axie classes within the Axie Infinity ecosystem. Each class type has corresponding charms that can only be attached to cards of that specific class.
For instance, the Beast charm, Hidden Razor, can be used only to enhance Beast attack cards.
Trainers can also craft Neutral charms.
Neutral charms are nonspecific in nature. These charms can be added to cards of any class, which make them extremely versatile.
Please see below for a complete list of charm classes:
- Beast
- Plant
- Aquatic
- Bug
- Reptile
- Bird

Charm Rarity
Each charm will fall into 1 of 4 categories.
Below is a list of these categories, ordered from highest to least in rarity.
- Mystic
- Epic
- Rare
- Common
The rarity level of a charm often dictates how powerful it may be, as well as how easy or hard it is to obtain through crafting.
The rarer the charm, the more crafting experience, as well as crafting recipes, will be needed to procure the charm.
Potential Points (PP)
All axies have 15 Potential Points, which equate to their ability (or potential) to equip charms. Each charm that is equipped to an axie will utilize some of the axie’s Potential Points. When an axie has run out of potential points, no additional charms can be equipped.
For more information about Potential Points, please view our Potential Points article.
Ronin and Sealed Charms
A charm can be either a Ronin or Sealed charm.
Ronin charms are NFT charms that are crafted from a mixture of Moonshard and SLP. These items can be traded amongst friends or even sold on our Marketplace.

Sealed charms are crafted without the use of SLP. You can also get sealed charms of certain classes from Choice/Random Charm boxes, which are obtained through events and other special occasions. These items are not NFT and are tied to the game. They cannot be traded or sold, but serve the same in-game functions as their NFT counterparts.
Seasonal and Non-Seasonal Charms
Seasonal charms are active for 1 season and expire at the beginning of the next season. Once expired, these charms lose their powers and can no longer be equipped to cards. They can be disenchanted at any time to recuperate a small quantity of Scraps.
You can find more information about disenchanting charms here.
Non-seasonal charms do not have expiration dates and will never become unusable. These types of charms are often obtained as in-game progression rewards.
