Axie Classic - Gears

Gears are part of a new mechanic in Axie Infinity Classic, these items allow you to change an Axie’s stats during your battles temporarily. This introduces new strategic possibilities for both offense and defense. Equipping a Gear increases one stat of an Axie while reducing another to maintain balance.

The Effects of Gears

Currently, there are two types of Gears that you can equip to an Axie: HP and Speed

Each Gear has its own level, and different levels have different stats. Below is a breakdown of the stat changes at different levels of the Gears.

HP Gear:

Level Health Skill
1 +12 -2
2 +24 -4
3 +36 -6
4 +48 -8
5 +72 -10

Speed Gear:

Level Speed Morale
1 +1 -3
2 +2 -4
3 +3 -5
4 +4 -6
5 +6 -7

How to Upgrade Gears

  1. Click the Inventory tab on the upper right corner of the Classic app.

  1. Click the Gears tab.

  1. Click the Upgrade button.

  1. Select the HP or Speed tab depending on the type of Gear you want to upgrade. After that, from your list of available Gears, select 2 Gears of the same level and click Upgrade.

Note: Gear upgrading costs 20 Gems per attempt regardless of the Level of the Gear. You can only upgrade Gears up to Level 5 at the moment.

The default success rate of upgrading a Gear depends on the Level of the Gear:

Gear Level Upgrade Success Rate
1 > 2 100%
2 > 3 90%
3 > 4 80%
4 > 5 70%

If the upgrade succeeds, you’ll see this screen:

If the upgrade fails, you’ll see this pop-up message. One Gear copy is then consumed, and the remaining Gear gains a 5% increase in success rate.

Note: The success rate bonus accumulates and can stack up to a maximum of 100%.

 How to Use Gears

  1. Click the Teams button on the main screen of the Classic app.

  1. Click the Edit Gear button.

  1. Select the type of Gear you want to equip for each Axie and set the Priority: High, Medium, or Low. Click Done. After that, click the Save button to save the changes.

Equipped gears are determined by the type and priority of each Axie:

  • The highest-priority Axie will equip the highest-level gear.
  • Lower-priority Axies will equip lower-level gears.

For example, if 3 Axies are equipped with Speed Gears and you have Level 5, 4, and 3 Gear in your Inventory, the Axie with the highest priority will get the Level 5 Gear, the Axie with the medium priority will get the Level 4 Gear, and the Axie with the low priority will get the Level 3 Gear. If you don't have enough Gear, the lower priority Axie/Axies will not be equipped with any Gear.

There are a few restrictions of using Gears:

  • Axies that are in a team can not have the same priority of the same Gear type. Otherwise, the whole team setting will not be saved and it will revert to the previous valid team setting (including the Artifacts).
  • Gears are not applied on Cursed Coliseum battles.
