What are Runes?
Runes possess unique powers and can be equipped to axies, granting them all-new capabilities. Each axie can only be equipped with a single rune, which can be acquired through crafting. For more information on crafting, refer to the Crafting Guide.
Rune: Sturdy Fighter
The effects of runes are passive, meaning they automatically activate during battle.
Each rune has the following:
- A class: Beast - Plant - Aqua - Bug - Reptile - Bird - Mech - Dusk - Dawn and Neutral
- A rarity: Common - Rare - Epic - Mystic
Runes can be equipped to axies belonging to the same class as the rune itself, with the exception of neutral runes. Neutral runes can be equipped to axies of any class.
Some runes cannot be crafted, and can only be obtained through special game modes, events and leveling up starter axies. These runes are labeled 'Non-S'.
Runes can be NFT or non-NFT, and seasonal or nonseasonal.
Sealed Runes (non-NFT) & Ronin Runes (NFT)
Ronin runes are crafted using SLP and Moon Shard. These runes can be neutral or class-based. Ronin runes can be minted and traded in the marketplace.

On the other hand, Sealed Runes are crafted without the use of SLP, and can also be obtained from a Choice Box, Random Box, or unlocked by doing certain activities like promoting your starter axies. These runes cannot be minted or traded in the marketplace.
Seasonal & Nonseasonal Runes
Seasonal runes can be crafted each new season, but will expire at the beginning of the next season, where players will need to craft new runes again. Expired runes cannot be used in new seasons, but can be minted and collected, or disenchanted.
Non-seasonal runes cannot be crafted and are freely given to players, obtained through events, or unlocked by promoting starter axies. Occasionally, non-seasonal runes may be introduced, although their addition will be infrequent. While some seasonal runes may be retired in a preceding season, non-seasonal runes will always be available.
