In this article, we’ll go over the most common Axie Passport issues and how you can troubleshoot them.
Cloudflare - WebGL Issue
This error usually happens if some features that are required by the Axie Passport site are not enabled on the browser device. This can be due to various reasons:
- Hardware/graphics acceleration is turned off in Chrome settings.
- GPU drivers are outdated or missing.
- Chrome is running in compatibility mode, or it's blacklisting the GPU due to instability or poor driver support.
- System policies (like on VMs or corporate devices) block GPU access.
- The session might be on a remote desktop session, which disables GPU usage in Chrome.
How to Enable WebGL/WebGPU in Chrome
Step 1: Ensure Graphics Acceleration is Enabled in Chrome.
- Go to chrome://settings/system
- Make sure "Use graphics acceleration when available" is enabled.
- Restart Chrome afterward.
Step 2: Update GPU Drivers.
- Updates their graphics card drivers from the manufacturer’s website (NVIDIA, AMD, Intel).
- Reboots after updating.
Step 3: Force Enable WebGL & WebGPU in Chrome Flags.
- Visit: chrome://flags
- Search and enable these flags:
- WebGL Draft Extensions
- WebGL 2.0 Compute
- WebGPU
- Override software rendering list
- Restart Chrome.
Step 4: Check System Info.
Visit chrome://gpu again after changes and ensure:
- WebGL and WebGPU are "Hardware accelerated".
- Most items are no longer showing “Software only” or “Disabled”.
Optional: Test WebGL and WebGPU.
You can verify your WebGL support by visiting: https://get.webgl.org/
If it’s working correctly, you’ll see a spinning cube. If this works, you can go to the Axie Passport site and try to create your passport again.
Unexpected Error
This usually happens when too many users try to access the site at once. If this issue occurs, please try returning again to the site after a few minutes.
