In the Wings of Nightmare, players have a chance to evolve specific Axie parts into new collectible "Nightmare" variants. This mechanic aims to boost the demand for part evolutions and create collectible options for players.
Nightmare Parts & Body
The Axie parts evolution event is here to introduce the special "Nightmare" parts for certain Stage 2 parts. These are collectible Axie parts with spooky-themed cosmetics. The parts come in either Nightmare or Shiny Nightmare parts.
Nightmare Parts have a capped supply instead of a time limit, making them limited and collectible. The supply distribution is as follows:
- Common Nightmare Parts: 18 types (3 for each body part), 2,000 each
- Rare Nightmare Parts: 6 types (1 for each body part), 500 each
Devolving a Nightmare part will decrease its supply (making it available for others) but will have a small chance of achieving a special body type, the Nightmare body with a 1,500 supply.
Each Nightmare part has a 1% chance to be Shiny. Shiny odds increase to 5% if your Axie has a Nightmare body type.
How to Get Nightmare Parts & Body
To get Nightmare parts for your axies, you will need to evolve your axie’s parts that are eligible for Nightmare evolution. Then for a chance to get a Nightmare body type, you will need to devolve a Nightmare part.
Evolution for Nightmare Parts
To evolve your axie’s parts, follow this article as guide.
In the part where you are choosing the part you wish to evolve, if it is eligible for a Nightmare evolution, you will see a split for different success rates for a normal or a Nightmare evolution.
You will see the success rate of evolving to a Nightmare part which is based on your axie’s on-chain level. Our level 30 axie here with a Trump, a rare Nightmare-eligible part, has a 15% success rate of evolving into its Nightmare part.
The success rate is dependent on the level of the axie and the rarity of the part selected.
Devolution for Nightmare Body
Nightmare body is obtainable by devolving Nightmare parts. When you devolve a Nightmare part, you have a small chance of achieving a special body type, with a max supply of 1500. Use the consumable, Dark Flame, to devolve a Nightmare part back to its base.
You may check our How to Devolve Your Axie article for a detailed guide on how to devolve.
When you devolve a Nightmare part, you’ll get a note stating your chance of getting a Nightmare body.
Only a regular, inheritable body type can have a chance to transform into a Nightmare body. This means that special body types, such as Wavy and Frosty, are not eligible and cannot be transformed into a Nightmare body.
This transformation is irreversible, once your axie gets the Nightmare body, you cannot change it back to its original body.
⚠ IMPORTANT NOTE: Mystic Axies with a Nightmare body can no longer wear spacesuits. Once your Mystic axie has acquired the Nightmare body type, you will no longer be able to toggle the Mystic Spacesuit as a cosmetic.
Wings of Nightmare Duration
The Nightmare Parts mechanic is a supply-limited opportunity for players to acquire and evolve their base parts with special Nightmare enhancements. While each Nightmare part is limited in supply, devolving a Nightmare part frees up a slot in the supply cap, allowing another axie to have a chance at getting that slot through evolution.
This also allows players to reserve a specific part for an axie that isn’t ready to evolve yet using an evolvable axie, then devolve that axie to free up a spot in the supply, and allow the preferred axie to get the Nightmare part.
This means the mechanic runs indefinitely, players can evolve and devolve their axies to pass around Nightmare parts at any time even if the supply cap is reached. However, as the Nightmare body cannot be removed from an axie, once the supply cap for the Nightmare body is reached, no other axie can get it.
