Forging in Axie Infinity allows players to combine various on-chain assets to create new items by burning materials and minting new ones.
Forging Materials
Forging requires the use of various on-chain tokens. Currently, the following tokens are used in forging:
- Axie Materials - are a collection of class-specific ERC-1155 tokens that are the composable building block in the axie ecosystem. Most materials are obtained from releasing axies, though there are some special materials that are obtained in different ways.
- Axie Consumables - are one-use items that can have different effects on axies when used.
Blueprints
Blueprints are what enables you to forge certain items, and can be unlocked by meeting certain requirements.

How to Forge in App.Axie
To start forging, you will need to go to App.Axie and follow the steps below:
Step 1: Open the forging page by either:
- Opening the Axie Experiences menu and clicking on The Forge.
- Clicking on the FORGE tab on an axie’s detail page and clicking on Start Forging. This will pre-select the axie as a forger and open the forging page.
Step 2: Select the blueprint for the item that you want to forge.
Step 3: Select the forger axies. Only the forger axies that meets the blueprint’s requirements will be shown here. Each axie can only forge one item at a time, so you will need one eligible forger axie for each item.
If it’s your first time to forge, you will also be asked to approve the contract’s use of the required materials for forging, such as Axie Materials, Consumables, and AXS. You will have to approve for each type you haven’t approved yet for the Forge contract before you can proceed with the forging.
Step 4: The quantity that will be crafted will depend on how many forger axies you choose. Once you selected the required number of forger axies and have the correct quantity of materials, click on Forge X items button and confirm the forging transaction with your wallet.
NOTE:
- You can only assign axies based on the maximum quantity you can craft with the materials in your wallet, up to a maximum of 20 forger axies to a single forge action at one time.
- Axie delegation will not transfer forging abilities from the manager to the scholar. Managers can still select delegated axies as forgers here; however, scholars will not be able to utilize them.
After a few seconds, you’ll get a confirmation message and the forged items will be sent to your wallet shortly.
Forging Cooldown
Each forger axie goes on a cooldown period after forging an item. During this cooldown period, they cannot be used as forger axie until the cooldown period is over.
The length of the cooldown time depends on the collectible type of the axie as well as the rarity of the item that was forged.
Cooldown periods based on forged item’s rarity and forger axie’s collection type. In the initial release, the blueprints available only allow collectible axies to be used as forgers.
You can view the current cooldown of each axie on the forger axie selection screen by disabling “Only show available axies” to see axies on cooldown. Axies on cooldown will show the remaining cooldown time on the bottom of their images.
An individual axie’s remaining cooldown period can also be checked on the Forge tab of the axie details page.
