Game Features & Mechanics
In Axie Pals, there are multiple types of activities you can enjoy with your Pals, ranging from casually watching them run around to interacting with them and completing daily tasks. Let’s dive deep into all the game features and mechanics that Axie Pals has to offer.
Game Profile & Selecting Axie as Companion
After selecting your Axies on the kindredlabs.ai/axie page, as mentioned in the Getting Started guide, you will need to choose them again in-game for the one you want to accompany you in all the activities you'll be doing with the Axie Pals.
To do this, simply do the following:
- Go to the Profile menu.
- In the Companion tab, choose the axie that you would like to use as your companion, then click Apply.
Additionally, in the Profile menu, you can rename your Axie by clicking on “Edit Profile.” You will also be able to see various other details, such as your User ID, Badges, and House Collections.
Once the selection is complete, you can call your Axie to accompany you on your browser! See "Calling and Dismissing Axies" to learn more about it.
Calling and Dismissing Axies
You can interact with your selected axie on any website by calling the axie. To call an axie, click the Call/Dismiss toggle on the Axie Pals interface. This will summon the axie to the bottom of your browser, and you can interact with it on any tab you open.
You can also call the axie by clicking the bell in the House.
Once you are done playing with the axie, click the Call/Dismiss toggle and your axie will run off the screen until you call it again.
AXP, Axie Status Meters, & Care Index
The AXP bar shows the current level and Axie Pals daily AXP progression of your axie. AXP is an experience and leveling system shared across various Axie experiences.
To learn more about AXP and axie levels, check our AXP and Axie Levels guide.
To learn more about earning AXP in Axie Pals, check Earning AXP in Axie Pals guide.
The status meters indicate the current state of your axie, ranging from their happiness, their energy level, or their hunger.
- Food/Hunger Meter - When the hunger meter is getting low, feed your axie some food to replenish it. To learn how to feed your axie, please check the Feeding section.
- Mood Meter - This is the general mood of the axie. The higher the meter is, the happier your axie is. To increase your axie’s mood meter, you can play with it by patting it, or by feeding it food. To learn more about patting, please refer to the Patting section.
- Energy Meter - When the energy meter is at 0, you cannot interact with the axie until you put it to sleep for it to regain energy. For more information, please check the Wake Up & Sleep section.
The Care Index is an overall score based on how well you have been taking care of your axie. This score is based on how well you’re able to maintain the axie’s three status meters on a satisfactory level, from a scale of 1 to 100. You’ll see your current care index in the middle of the interface, as well as on the House interface.
Keeping your care index at a high value is crucial, as it allows you to gain more passive AXP with your axie, as well as help you get more points for the leaderboard.
Activities
You can take part in various activities with your axie while they wander around on your screen, including:
Feeding
You can bond with your axie by feeding it delicious treats from the mission/level-up rewards or the in-game shop to increase the hunger meter points. To feed your axie:
- From the top bar or the House, click the Backpack icon and go to the Food section.
- Click and drag the food from the inventory to the browser, near where your axie is located.
- Your axie will then start eating the food. You’ll get Account XP & AXP each time you feed your axie, and this will help increase your axie’s Mood, Energy, and Hunger bar depending on the type of food you fed the axie.
You can get food from 2 sources, either by completing Missions or by purchasing from the Vending Machine.

Patting
Just like real-life pets, you can pat your axie by hovering over the axie and moving your mouse back and forth. When you are patting an axie, a progress circle will appear. Continue patting the axie until the progress bar is full, and you’ll be rewarded with AXP and your axie’s Mood will increase.
Pickup
You can click and drag the axie to pick it up, and release it to drop it in any location that you want. Picking up your axie will increase your axie’s Mood, your account XP and you’ll also be rewarded with AXP!
Wake Up & Sleep
You can put your axie to sleep or wake it up by clicking on the Wake Up/Sleep toggle on the interface.
While your axie is sleeping, you will not be able to interact with it until you wake it up. Resting your axie with sleep is important to increase its energy when the energy bar is low.
Player Level
Aside from your axie’s level, you have your own player level which you can increase by interacting with your axie. By reaching specific levels, you’ll get rewards such as Black Matter, food, and other items. Your level-up rewards will be sent and can be claimed in your Inbox.
House
The House is an alternative way to interact with your axie instead of using the regular interface. It provides quick access to information and pages for added convenience when playing with your axie. You can toggle the House on/off by clicking on the House toggle.
The House will appear on the bottom of your screen by default, and you can move them around by dragging the House left or right.
1 Currency Balance - Shows your current Dark Matter and Essence balance.
2 Axie Care Index and Status Meters - Shows a quick preview of your current care index and the axie’s status meters.
3 Bell - Click the bell to call/summon your axie.
4 Backpack - Used to quickly access your inventory, such as if you want to get food for your axie.
5 House Control Buttons - Used to minimize or close/hide the House.

On the Equipped tab, you’ll be able to check and equip Wearables. However, in the initial release, there are no compatible Wearables for axies.
On the Inventory tab, you’ll see all items in your inventory. On this tab, you can drag food items from the inventory to feed them to your axie.
If you accidentally dropped a Food item, you can right click on it and click the X button to cancel.
