Getting Started
Where to Download
Duet Monsters is available to download on both Google Play Store and iOS App Store. You may get the download links through the Mavis Hub.
Accessing the Game
You may choose to start playing Duet Monsters by logging in as a guest or via Mavis Account sign in. By logging in as a guest, you are only able to play Solo Mode. In order to access battle features and save your progress, you will need to have a Sky Mavis account and use it to sign up.
To utilize all game features, you will also need to have at least two NFT axies in the Ronin wallet that is linked to your Sky Mavis account.
Game Mechanics
You are controlling two axies on two sides of your device screen - use your thumbs for quick reactions. You need to gain as many points as you can during the whole song. You are getting points for each eaten Food, which is being dropped from the skies in the song's rhythm.
You’ll see a progress bar on top of the screen, showing your point progression. The more points you get, the more stars you earn for the song.
Understanding Game Elements
Stars
Finishing a session will earn your stars for the corresponding song that was played. The number of stars you earn depends on the final score you got for the session. A maximum of 5 stars is available to be earned for each song in the songlist. Collecting more stars unlocks new songs and other features like Performer Axie Skins.
Happy Points [HP]
Notice those pink hearts on the top left of the home screen? They are called Happy Points and serve as Duet Monster’s in-game currency. HP can be used to purchase various in-game items such as Performer Axie Skins, Room Decorations, Game Themes, and Item Skins (Food). In the future, HP will also be used to unlock songs in the future.
Finishing a song in either Solo Mode or winning an HP Match will earn you HP.
Smooth Love Potion [SLP]
Smooth Love Potion is a utility token in the Axie ecosystem. You can earn SLP in Duet Monsters by putting them on stake during an SLP match and gaining victory, or from completing Daily Missions.
Popularity Rating [MMR]
You will earn MMR for every victory in Music Battle game modes. The higher the MMR, the higher you are on the weekly leaderboard rankings.
Axies
There are two types of axies that are used in the game.
- Performer Axies - These are non-NFT axies that can be collected by progressing and playing the game, and are the axies used for the main gameplay.
- Axie Crew - These are the NFT axies from the Axie Marketplace. The crew will be the background supporter for the performer, and helps you get an advantage in matches by giving you bonus points to specific song genres. To learn more about them, you may check the Axie Crew section.
Axie Experience Points [AXP]
Axie Experience Point is an off-chain token that is gained by axies through gameplay and other various axie experiences. Each of your axies can earn up to 3,000 AXP per day by winning matches with them in Battle Mode.
Daily Quest
By completing Daily Quests, you can get valuable rewards like Stars, Happy Points, and SLP [Smooth Love Potion]. To access the Daily Quest tab, click the memo icon on the left side of the home screen as the one shown below:
Game Modes
Duet Monsters includes two main game modes: Solo Mode and Battle Mode.
Solo Mode
Solo Mode is the single player mode, where you can practice a song and hone your skills before heading over to Battle Mode. In Solo Mode, you can only earn Happy Points.
To start playing Solo Mode, hold and drag your fingers on the home screen.
Music Battle Mode
In Music Battle Mode, you will play head–to-head against other players in a music battle, where the winner claims all the rewards staked in that match. There are two formats to choose from, HP Match and SLP Match.
HP Match uses Happy Points as the entry fee and reward. Both players stake an equivalent number of Happy Points and whoever wins the match gets the Happy Points in the pool. If you lose the game, you also lose your Happy Points.
SLP Match is the premium format of the Music Battle mode where it uses SLP as the entry fee and reward. Similar to the HP Match, both players stake an equivalent number of SLP and whoever wins the match gets the SLP in the pool. If you lose the game, you also lose your SLP.
Additionally, you will need to have at least two NFT axies in your connected Ronin wallet to be able to play with SLP.
Music Battle Mode Phases
In HP/SLP matches, each game (or song) has two distinct phases: the Early Phase and the Endless Phase. During the Early Phase, the song plays at 100% speed. If one player finishes the song before the other, they must wait until their opponent finishes. If one of the players wins in the early phase, the game concludes right away.
Should both players tie in the Early Phase, they move on to the Endless Phase with the following rules:
- The song cycles 10 times, each time increasing in speed by 20% until reaching maximum speed.
- If a player misses a fruit, the song stops for that player and can’t play any longer. If both players missed a fruit, the final scores will be calculated to conclude the match.
- The Endless Phase concludes when one player surpasses the other's score, or both players are eliminated.
- In case of a tie during the Endless Phase, the match is declared a Draw. Both players receive a portion of MMR & currency rewards: +0 MMR and 95% of their staked amount. For instance, if both players bet 1000, they each receive 950.
Axie Crew
At the start of each Battle Mode match, you get to choose NFT axies to be a part of your Axie Crew and buff the points you’re getting from the match. Choosing the right axies for the genre of the song in a match is the key in winning. Depending on the axie’s class, each axie will specialize in buffing 2 genres.
- Aqua will give 5% buff to Pop Genre & 2% buff to Jazz Genre.
- Bird will give 5% buff to K-Pop Genre & 2% buff to Pop Genre.
- Bug will give 5% buff to EDM Genre & 2% buff to Indie Genre.
- Dawn will give 5% buff to Indie Genre & 2% buff to Country Genre.
- Dusk will give 5% buff to Jazz Genre & 2% buff to R&B Genre.
- Mech will give 5% buff to Rock Genre & 2% buff to EDM Genre.
- Plant will give 5% buff to Country Genre & 2% buff to K-Pop Genre.
- Reptile will give 5% buff to R&B Genre & 2% buff to Rap Genre.
- Beast will give 5% buff to Rap Genre & 2% buff to Rock Genre.
Depending on the axie’s purity, they’ll also give a universal buff to all genres. For each part that matches the axie’s class, they’ll get a 1% buff to all genres.
If you don’t know which axies to choose, you can use the Auto Select button to let the game choose the axies for you.
Housing
Players can unlock Housing after getting 5 stars from Solo Mode. With Housing, you can hangout with your Axies and decorate their house.
The more stars you get from Solo Mode, the more floors you unlock and the more Performer Axies and decorations/furniture you can add to the Housing.
You can unlock more slots for Axies and decorations/furniture using Happy Points, by clicking the Axies or decoration/furniture slots. There are different styles of decorations/furniture available to choose from, so you can customize the housing based on your preferred style.
More rewards for unlocking new housing floors will be added in a future update.
